​Founded in 1999 via the merger of Exxon and Mobil, in Irving, Texas, it is an American multinational firm which offers a wide array of services from exploring and developing to distributing crude oil and natural gas. ExxonMobil is prominent known to be the second largest publicly traded corporation as per market capitalization and is also the biggest among the “supermajors” (world’s biggest oil and gas firms). 

​ExxonMobil has been subject to various critisms, one of which was 1980 Exxon Valdez oil spill which was known to be the 36th worst oil spill in the world.  Exxon has the capacity to shield itself from price volatility to some extent due to its massive size and diversified portfolio in lucrative markets.
